Salt Spreaders and Brine Sprayers

Hopper V-box salt spreaders feature a funnel-shaped storage container, known as a hopper, which fits into the truck bed and uses gravity to feed the de-icing material onto an auger or conveyor that moves it to a distributing spinner at the back of the truck. These spreaders offer a larger holding capacity, allowing for greater coverage between refills. However, they increase the truck’s weight and prevent the use of the truck bed for other purposes. Many models come with lids that open for easy loading and protect the material from the elements. Additionally, some include vibration mechanisms to prevent clumping, ensuring a smooth and continuous material flow.

Tailgate salt spreaders are attached to the back of trucks using mounting brackets for the tailgate, rear bumper, and/or via the receiver hitch. Despite their limited holding capacity, which makes them ideal for smaller roads, parking lots, or driveways, these compact yet versatile spreaders are typically the most budget-friendly option and enable operators to make full use of their truck bed.
